Alfuzz D is a combination medication that contains Alfuzosin and Dutasteride, used primarily to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is the non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland in men. This combination works to both relieve urinary symptoms and reduce the size of the prostate over time.

Mechanism of Action
Alfuzz D works through two different mechanisms:

• Alfuzosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow and reducing symptoms like difficulty urinating or frequent urination.

• Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor. It blocks the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate growth. This leads to a gradual shrinkage of the prostate gland.

  Uses
  Alfuzz D is used for:

  • Treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of BPH in adult men

  • Reducing the risk of urinary retention and the need for prostate surgery

    Adverse Effects
    While generally effective, some individuals may experience side effects such as:

    • Dizziness or low blood pressure, especially when standing up

    • Reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, or ejaculation problems

    • Breast tenderness or enlargement in rare cases

    • Headache or gastrointestinal discomfort

    • Dutasteride may take several months to show full effect, and symptoms may worsen before improving
